Georgia Issues Directive Lifting Ban on Policy Cancellations in Certain Counties

On October 10, 2024, the Georgia Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire (OCI) issued Directive 24-EX-8 to lift the temporary ban on policy cancellations in certain counties that was set forth in Directive 24-EX-6.

 

Beginning October 16, 2024, the ban on policy cancellations due to nonpayment of premium from policyholders is lifted in the counties listed in Directive 24-EX-8. Insurers are still prohibited from cancelling policies in certain counties, which are also listed in the directive.
