Georgia Issues Directives Following Hurricane Helene

The Georgia Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire (OCI) has issued Directive 24-EX-5 and Directive 24-EX-6 to all insurers in the state following Hurricane Helene.

Directive 24-EX-5 was issued on September 30, 2024 to remind insurers of their responsibility to promptly acknowledge receipt of all weather-related claims and to give policyholders timely service amidst an increase in claims.

Directive 24-EX-6 was issued on October 1, 2024 to instruct insurers not to cancel policies for nonpayment of premium from policyholders in the listed counties.
