Iowa Issues Proclamation of Disaster Emergency for Multiple Counties

On August 20, 2025, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds issued a Proclamation of Disaster Emergency for Chickasaw, Winnebago, and Winneshiek Counties in response to severe storms and weather that occurred on August 17, 2025. 

 

Proclamation No. 2025-21 activates Iowa Bulletin 24-03, which advises insurers to take the following actions: implement cancellation grace periods, extend claims handling deadlines, issue letters of declination for FEMA, and avoid invoking contractual provisions that prohibit payment of recoverable depreciation.

 

This proclamation will remain in effect until September 19, 2025.
