Louisiana has adopted [Regulation 136](https://www.ldi.la.gov/docs/default-source/documents/legaldocs/regulations/lr/regulation-136-lr-sept-2026.pdf) which establishes mandatory property insurance discounts for homes that meet or exceed FORTIFIED requirements.

Insurers are required to provide a premium discount or insurance rate reduction for residential properties that are constructed or improved to mitigate losses from certain storms and have received a FORTIFIED designation. Insurers must offer premium discounts or insurance rate reductions in accordance with the rates published on the Louisiana Department of Insurance's website. Additionally, all insurers must obtain approval from the Commissioner for all premium discounts offered.
