On March 19, 2025, the Maine Bureau of Insurance issued Bulletin 483 regarding the use of aerial imagery by homeowners insurers.
The bulletin provides guidelines that insurers should follow when using aerial imagery for making nonrenewal determinations. This includes using other tools for determination when the aerial images are inconclusive, notifying the homeowner of the use of aerial imagery as well as providing the images taken, and also ensuring the use of clear and recent images.
