On May 16, 2025, the Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA) issued [Bulletin 25-8](https://insurance.maryland.gov/Insurer/Documents/bulletins/25-8-Cancellation-of-Insurance-Policies.pdf) regarding the cancellations of insurance policies following Governor Wes Moore's [Executive Order 01.01.2025.12](https://governor.maryland.gov/Lists/ExecutiveOrders/Attachments/85/EO%2001.01.2025.12%20Declaration%20of%20a%20State%20of%20Emergency_Accessible_r1.pdf), which declared a state of emergency for Allegany and Garrett Counties.

The bulletin states that, to avoid cancellations for personal automobile, homeowners, other personal lines, and commercial lines of insurance, the MIA requires that insurers provide reasonable accommodations, including a grace period for premium payment of 60 days, to policyholders in the mentioned counties.
