Maryland Issues Revised Bulletin to Add Expiration Date on Requirements

    Jun 24, 2025 / by AAIS

On May 16, 2025, the Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA) issued Bulletin 25-8 regarding the cancellations of insurance policies following Governor Wes Moore's Executive Order 01.01.2025.12, which declared a state of emergency for Allegany and Garrett Counties.

On June 17, 2025, the MIA issued Bulletin 25-8 Revised to add that the requirements of the bulletin will expire on July 15, 2025. The bulletin states that, to avoid cancellations for personal automobile, homeowners, other personal lines, and commercial lines of insurance, the MIA requires that insurers provide reasonable accommodations, including a grace period for premium payment of 60 days, to policyholders in the mentioned counties.

Please see Bulletin 25-8 Revised for more information. For any questions regarding the bulletin, please contact Patricia Dorn, Associate Commissioner, Consumer Education and Advocacy, at 410-370-7075 or patricia.dorn@maryland.gov
