On May 29, 2026, the Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance (Department) issued Insurance Bulletin 26-09 to rescind the moratorium on post-storm cancellations and nonrenewals.
Previous Insurance Bulletins 25-10 and 25-11 were issued following severe storms and the declaration of a State of Emergency to place a moratorium on certain cancellations and nonrenewals. Insurance Bulletin 26-09 rescinds this moratorium, effective June 1, 2026. The Department is aware that recovery efforts are still underway in certain parts of the state and requests that insurers continue to provide additional time to those that were impacted before initiating or instituting the cancellation or nonrenewal of policies where the property owner is making good-faith efforts to complete repairs. The Department will extend a regulatory safe harbor as described to insurers that comply with this request.
Please see Insurance Bulletin 26-09 for more information. For any questions regarding the bulletin, please contact the Market Regulation Division at marketconduct@insurance.mo.gov.
