    Nevada Issues Bulletin 26-002

    Jul 17, 2026 / by AAIS

On July 9, 2026, the Nevada Division of Insurance (Division) issued Bulletin 26-002 regarding insurers cancelling new homeowner policies late in the 70-day underwriting period based on property inspection results. As the timing of such cancellations can create unnecessary financial and logistical hardship for policyholders, the Division provides guidance to insurers on handling homeowner property inspections. Among other provisions, insurers should conduct property inspections prior to or very shortly after binding coverage when possible. In addition, insurers should avoid relying on inspections conducted late in the underwriting period as a basis for cancellation except in certain cases. Furthermore, insurers should send written communications to applicants and policyholders clearly explaining any pending inspection requirements and potential implications of inspection results.

For more information, please see Bulletin 26-002. For any questions regarding the bulletin, please contact pcinsinfo@doi.nv.gov.
