Connecticut has enacted House Bill 5373 which, among other provisions, allows insurers to send premium billing notices by electronic means to insureds for certain policies if agreed upon as described. Additionally, for premium billing notices of personal risk insurance policies, this bill requires insurers to state that they shall provide a reasonable explanation for premium increases within 20 business days after receiving a named insured’s request. Insurers must also include a prominent statement containing the insurer’s contact information on such notices, to which policyholders may submit their explanatory requests.
