Utah Enacts House Bill 119

Written by AAIS | Apr 3, 2026

Utah has enacted House Bill 119, which, among other provisions, defines "OEM aftermarket crash part" and requires written notice by the insurer regarding the use of such parts.

The bill states that for a policy issued on or after October 1, 2026, the insurer must provide to the insured, at the time of issuance and renewal, a written notice stating that the insurer may authorize or specify the use of aftermarket crash parts in the event of a covered loss. The bill provides more information about the notice, including specific language that must be disclosed. The bill also adds that when an insurer authorizes or specifies the use of a non-OEM aftermarket crash part, the written estimate must contain the stated disclosure language.
