Oregon Extends Wildfire Emergency Order

On July 31, 2026, the Director of the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services issued a Wildfire Emergency Order requiring all insurers to take certain actions regarding claims related to areas affected by the wildfire, and instituting a grace period for premium payment on all insurance policies within the affected areas. On August 30, 2026, the Director released an Order Extending Wildfire Emergency Order to extend the effective period 30 days.

The Division also asks insurers to be flexible with additional living expenses (coverage D loss of use), including cases where policyholders evacuate early or evacuate from certain structures not appearing on official evacuation maps.

Colorado Issues Moratorium Following Aspen Acres Fire

New Hampshire Issues Bulletin Regarding Policy Termination Notices

On August 12, 2026, the New Hampshire Insurance Department (NHID) issued Bulletin INS 26-052-AB reminding all personal lines automobile insurers to maintain legal compliance with policy termination notices for nonpayment of a renewal premium. Such termination notices should provide a cure period of at least 10 days, during which the insured may pay the overdue premium and seamlessly continue coverage. If the insured fails to cure the premium nonpayment within the required notice period, the insurer may terminate the policy.
