Connecticut Issues State of Emergency in Certain Counties Following Flooding

Written by AAIS | Aug 26, 2024

On August 22, 2024, the Connecticut Insurance Department (CID) issued a Department Notice to all insurers informing them of the recent declaration of a state of emergency in Fairfield, New Haven, and Litchfield counties following significant flooding.

The declaration triggers CID Bulletin IC-31, requiring all insurers in the state to handle insurance claims and related matters promptly and in good faith and suspend the payment and collection of premiums to allow continuing insurance coverage for consumers in the stated counties.
