Wyoming Enacts New Liability Requirements for Off-Road Recreational Vehicles

Written by AAIS | Apr 17, 2023

On February 15, 2023, the Wyoming Legislature enacted Senate File No. SF0017 (SF 17), creating new equipment and liability insurance requirements for off-road recreational vehicles operated upon roadways designated as trails. The bill becomes effective July 1, 2023.

Among other things, SF 17 requires these recreational vehicles to have proof of liability insurance with limits not less than twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000.00). SF 17 also creates an exception where the new equipment and liability insurance requirements do not apply to off-road recreational vehicles operated on public road rights-of-way, streets, or highways for agricultural operations.
