On June 29, 2026, Illinois issued Company Bulletin 2026-08, requiring all insurers in the state who collected direct written premium amounts of more than $100 million nationwide during 2025 to respond to the NAIC Climate Risk Disclosure Survey. The bulletin provides instructions for submitting survey responses, which are due August 31, 2026.

Illinois has enacted House Bill 5357, which requires insurers, upon receiving homeowners insurance applications, to provide applicants with information regarding the availability of coverage for losses caused by a sewer backup or sump pump overflow, including coverage limits and costs.. Additionally, insurers are required to provide to the insured this information, along with details of their existing coverage, at least 30 days prior to each renewal of any homeowners policy. The bill is effective January 1, 2025.
Illinois has enacted House Bill 5559, which amends the Illinois Insurance Code and states that insurers must provide the insured with a brief description of how the determination of a total loss of an insured vehicle was made. This includes any available repair estimate, estimated vehicle salvage value, assessed market value, and other costs and calculations that were used. This applies to policies issued or renewed on or after July 1, 2025.
