On August 13, 2026, Indiana Governor Braun declared a statewide disaster emergency following recent severe weather that began on August 11, 2026, and continued for days after. On August 17, 2026, the Indiana Department of Insurance issued Bulletin 280 to all insurance companies to request a moratorium for any policyholder affected by the severe weather.

On March 25, 2024, the Indiana Department of Insurance (IDOI) issued Bulletin 274 following tornadoes and severe storms that occurred on March 14, 2024. These disaster events resulted in significant property damage in the counties of Delaware, Jefferson and Randolph.
As a result of the severe storms and tornadoes on March 31, 2023 and April 1, 2023, the Arkansas Insurance Department (AID) and the Indiana Department of Insurance (IDOI) issued bulletins to insurers implementing a policy cancellation moratorium.
