Florida Issues Hurricane Idalia Data Call

On November 6, 2023, the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (FLOIR) issued a data call notice for catastrophe reporting in response to Hurricane Idalia. The FLOIR is requiring enhanced data call reporting for November 2023. The deadline to submit the data call is Thursday, November 16, 2023.
New York Issues Public Auto Classification Data Call

On October 30, 2023, New York's Department of Financial Services (DFS) released a letter pursuant to Section 308 of the Insurance Law requiring companies reporting written premium for commercial automobile insurance to complete a survey. This survey requests detailed information on the total number of policies and direct premiums written, by category, for all public auto rate classifications during the time period of January 2022 through September 30, 2023. Any rate revisions that are being contemplated, or changes in your current level of writings in the immediate future, should also be included.
Vermont Issues Data Call in Response to Summer Rain and Flooding

On October 18, 2023, the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation (DFR) released Insurance Bulletin No. 227 in response to severe flooding and rain that occurred in July 2023. DFR has issued a data call to property and casualty insurers, including surplus lines or non-admitted insurers, for claims arising from these events with a date of loss between July 7, 2023 and September 1, 2023. The claims data, however, should not be limited to this time period or the counties identified in FEMA's disaster notices.
Hawaii Issues Hurricane Insurance Data Call

Hawaii Commissioner Releases a Request to Insurers Regarding Affected Policyholders

On September 14, 2023, the Hawaii Insurance Commissioner issued Commissioner's Memorandum 2023-5A regarding policyholders that were affected by the August 8, 2023, wildfires on Maui Island. The Commissioner recognizes that Additional Living Expenses (ALE) is often available for up to 12 months after the event, but is encouraging all insurers that provide residential property insurance in the state of Hawaii to extend that time period and provide at least 36 months of ALE.
California Issues Mandatory Moratorium in Response to Wildfires

On September 14, 2023, the California Department of Insurance (CDI) issued Bulletin 2023-6 which announced a mandatory moratorium on cancellations and non-renewals in response to the declaration of a state of emergency. The moratorium prohibits any admitted or non-admitted insurer writing residential property insurance in the state of California from issuing a notice of cancellation or non-renewal for one year, starting on August 29, 2023 in affected ZIP codes.
North Carolina Issues Semi-Annual Consent to Rate Data Call

On September 12, 2023, the North Carolina Department of Insurance (NCDOI) issued Bulletin 23-B-07 which outlines the semi-annual reporting requirements for all property and casualty insurers covering writing nonfleet private passenger motor vehicle physical damage and homeowners insurance in North Carolina. This data call applies only to companies that issued Consent to Rate policies during the period of 1/1/2023 - 6/30/2023.
