Texas has enacted Senate Bill 213 which prohibits insurers from requiring the tying of residential property and personal automobile policies. The bill states it is an unfair or deceptive act or practice to make the issuance, delivery, or renewal of a residential property insurance policy contingent on the purchase of a personal automobile insurance policy, or vice versa, from the same insurer or an affiliated insurer.

Oklahoma has enacted House Bill 1084 which establishes new definitions and states that under an auto collision or comprehensive policy, residential property insurance policy, or commercial property insurance policy, a person should not request or accept a post-loss insurance benefit assignment for property damage. The bill specifies that an assignment agreement is against public policy and will be null and void.
