In the AAIS Pulse session Commissioner’s Corner: Catching Up with National & State Insurance Regulators, host Lori Dreaver Munn, Director of Compliance and Government Relations at AAIS spoke with multiple leading regulators for their insights on trending regulatory topics including Chlora Lindley-Myers, Director of the Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance and NAIC President. In this interview, Lindley-Myers discussed her approach going into this year’s presidency, initiatives currently underway for 2023, progress in the area of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in the insurance industry, and more. 

The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) recently wrapped up its fall meeting in San Diego, Ca., where it celebrated its 150^th Anniversary. It was a hybrid event with an estimated 1,200 people attending in person and another 1,800 virtually. AAIS Views caught up with our Manager Government Affairs and Compliance, Lori Dreaver Munn and AAIS VP of Memberships & Solutions Truman Esmond, who both attended in person to hear about some of the key themes and takeaways from the meeting.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) continue to be a concern in our society, and the issues it presents extend beyond the communities where we live to the places and industries where we work. In 2021, AAIS Director of Government Relations Lori Dreaver Munn presented at the Association of Insurance Compliance Professionals (AICP) Annual Conference on a more nuanced concern – improving DEI in insurance products.

The April 13 episode of AAIS Pulse featured a frank discussion on diversity, equity and inclusion in corporate American, the insurance industry, and society at large, as seen through the lens of leaders in insurance regulation.
