On December 10, 2024, the Colorado Division of Insurance issued Bulletin No. B-5.51 to provide clarification regarding an insurer's payment of registration fees following the total loss of a motor vehicle.
The bulletin states that it is the Division's position that insurers must pay the registration fees associated with an insured's totaled motor vehicle, even when the insured chooses to retain the salvage for a reduced settlement amount. The bulletin also provides certain instances when an insurer is not required to pay such fees.
Please see Bulletin No. B-5.51 for more information.
