On July 17, 2026, the Colorado Division of Insurance (Division) issued Bulletin No. B-5.58 regarding claim handling for Additional Living Expenses, Loss of Use, and similar policy coverages for policyholders displaced by current Colorado wildfires.
Among other provisions, this bulletin states that residential property insurers should promptly evaluate such claims for policyholders subject to mandatory evacuation orders. Due to delayed damage assessments caused by emergency conditions, insurers should not deny, delay, suspend, or close evacuation-related claims solely because they have not yet been able to inspect or confirm the full extent of physical damage.
For more information, please see Bulletin No. B-5.58.
