The Colorado Division of Insurance adopted Emergency Regulation 26-E-04 to issue a moratorium on certain cancellations and nonrenewals in areas affected by the Aspen Acres Fire. All insurers with existing homeowners insurance policies covering owner-occupied residences in the defined areas must follow the directions provided in the emergency regulation.
Among other provisions, insurers must suspend all cancellations and nonrenewals in the affected areas. Additionally, the specified notices of cancellation or nonrenewal issued as of the effective date of the emergency regulation should be withdrawn, and an updated suspension notice should be provided. This emergency regulation became effective August 19, 2026.
Please see Emergency Regulation 26-E-04 for more information.
