On August 19, 2024, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds issued a Proclamation of Disaster Emergency for Monona County in response to the severe storms and weather that occurred on June 21, 2024. This proclamation follows the activation of Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Individual Disaster Assistance Program, identifying a need to assist individuals and families adversely affected by this disaster, on August 2, 2024.
Proclamation No. 2024-42 activates Iowa Bulletin 24-03, which advises insurers to take the following actions: implement cancellation grace periods, extend claims handling deadlines, issue letters of declination for FEMA, and avoid invoking contractual provisions that prohibit payment of recoverable depreciation.
This proclamation will remain in effect until September 18, 2024.
