On December 1, 2025, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) released the Kentucky Automobile Insurers Reporting Guide, announcing the implementation of the Kentucky Insurance Verification System (KentuckyIVS) in partnership with the Department of Insurance (DOI).
Recently revised statute KRS 186A.040 directed the KYTC to create an online insurance verification system. As a result, the KYTC partnered with the DOI to create KentuckyIVS. Insurance companies providing auto liability coverage to 1,000 or more vehicles registered in the state must make their insurance verification web service available to KentuckyIVS. The web service must follow Insurance Industry Committee on Motor Vehicle Administration (IICMVA) standards. Insurers are not required to make vehicles covered under commercial auto coverage available through the web service, but it is highly recommended. The reporting guide provides key dates for insurance companies regarding the use of KentuckyIVS.
Please see the Kentucky Automobile Insurers Reporting Guide for more information. For any questions regarding the reporting guide, please contact support@KentuckyIVS.com.
