Nevada Requests Flexibility for Policyholders Affected by Wildfire

    Sep 1, 2026 / by AAIS

On August 26, 2026, the Nevada Division of Insurance (Division) issued Bulletin 26-003 requesting that insurers provide flexibility to policyholders affected by wildfire on the timing of premium payments. The Division also asks insurers to be flexible with additional living expenses (coverage D loss of use), including cases where policyholders evacuate early or evacuate from certain structures not appearing on official evacuation maps.Additionally, insurers should be aware that wildfire burn scars are a known risk factor for flooding in areas that generally would not be a flood risk. Insurers should consider this information in claims coverage decisions.

For more information, please see Bulletin 26-003. For questions regarding the bulletin, please contact pcinsinfo@doi.nv.gov.
