Oct 7, 2024 / by AAIS

On October 2, 2024, the New Mexico Office of Superintendent of Insurance (NMOSI) issued Updated Bulletin 2024-009 to all insurers that have issued automobile policies in the state, following the Salt and South Fork fires.

The bulletin was issued to inform insurers of the Second Amended Emergency Order that was issued on October 1, 2024, and the requirements they must follow regarding automobile policies. Among other actions, the emergency order states that insurers should provide grace periods, waive deductibles, and postpone cancellations and nonrenewals for policyholders in affected counties.

Please see Updated Bulletin 2024-009 and the Second Amended Emergency Order for more information. For any questions regarding the bulletin, please contact Melissa Robertson at Melissa.Robertson@osi.nm.gov or 505-670-2704.
