North Carolina Issues Order Following Tropical Storm Helene

On September 30, 2024, the North Carolina Department of Insurance (NCDOI) issued Bulletin Number 24-B-13 following Tropical Storm Helene, informing insurers of the order that activated the state of disaster automatic stay of proof of loss requirements, and premium and debt deferrals for policyholders in the affected counties listed in the bulletin.

Insurers are encouraged to review the statutory requirements provided in NCGS § 58-2-46. This includes specific relief of the insureds' payments, submission of claims, and other responsibilities.
