Director of Rate & Forms Compliance at Kansas DOI Provides Update on New Forms Filing Procedures in Kansas

Dec 27, 2022 / by AAIS

At the recent NAIC meeting in Tampa, AAIS asked Julie Holmes, Director of Rate and Forms Compliance at the Kansas Department of Insurance for an overview of upcoming changes to forms filing procedures in the State.

Holmes says effective January 1, 2023 "…Forms filings will be required to include both rates and rules for new forms or form revisions that have a rate impact. Kansas will no longer accept companion files…”

“From a regulator and insurer standpoint this further streamlines the forms filing process. This change will hasten the review of form filings and modernize our operation…for companies utilizing rating organizations, they will need to indicate which parts of the organization's filing they will or will not adopt or if they will delay adoption."

She reminded carriers that over the past few months the Department did communicate these changes, but if anyone has questions regarding filing procedures, they may contact the Kansas Department of Insurance at 785-396-7844.
